Just got the 180 in
My dad and I installed the 180 stat today, and put in some more coolant. It works awesome. The temp gauge wont go above 190, and thats because its off a bit, so I bet the real temp is a bit little lower. But the good thing is, it runs way cooler than it did before, and I am very happy.

Way to go! Best thing you could have done to your car......now it'* time to add a tranny cooler. Just remember if you sit and idle without the climate on Auto, you can still spike to temps in the 200 to 220 range. The stat only decides when to open, but can't control temps when you get that high.

I forgot. It was just from a local parts dealer my dad always goes too.
Will:
My trans was never changed when I got the engine swap, so it probably has a lot of miles on it. Would that cooler really make the difference, because I don't tow anything.

Sol, every car here will benefit from the cooler. These suckers (SC or not) run hotter than a typical car. I'm running 2 coolers.....stock and an aftermarket. My TC would probably already be gone without the coolers. Get that heat out of the tranny, and the engine runs cooler.......then your intake charges are cooler......higher air density. Benefits all the way up the line.

Will, I still have the 2nd tranny cooler on my list of things to do. All the ones here in stores are silver and I don't want them since they'll stick out like a soar thumb. What one would you recommend since I want one that I know works with the car, and I would rather have a black one instead of silver. Thanks!

I gota black one from a local (not national) store. Just shop around and you'll find one. Like me, your car should already have a factory cooler on the passenger side of the radiator. All SSE'* and SSEi'* got them in the early 90'*. You want any damn cooler about the same size. Mount it right in front of the stock cooler, or even on the other side if you like.
Remember that your trans fluid runs through the radiator. You get to pre-cool the trans fluid twice before it enters the radiator. This will help keep coolant temps down, as well as insurance for your tranny.

I'll shop around. And I assume directions come with it so hopefully I'll be able to figure them out. BTW, my intake (hopefully) should be here by the end of the week. Despite the supercharger, our engine compartments will look very much alike. I'm putting my wires in tomorrow
Thanks for the tranny info.
