Default M90 Replaceing M62? Would this work?

I have not seen this talked about, but would an M90 bolt up where an M62 is currently? Some explanation would be great. Thanks.

You would need a lot of custom work. The lower intake is probably different, and you will need to make everything adapt to it, like the throttle body and the pulley system. It would require a lot of work. I don't know if it'* been done.

Alright, well the whole time I have been here, I have not seen it. So I guess I should've searched. I'll remember next time. O of course, now that I think of it, the snout on the M90 is significantly longer than the M62 is it not?

You can get a shorter snout, but that'* the least of the problems.

the throttle body is larger on the M90, the lower manifold is setup differently, so you'd need a custom spacer or intercooler, you'd have to match up the belt paths, using a larger belt because of the spacer, and larger pulley...

It'* be more cost efficient do do heads/cam to use the boost more effectively.

Wrong manifold, wrong heads, fuel rail won't fit, TB will have to change, requiring an AFC controller, etc.

So:

1. Custom snout.
2. Custom lower intake allowing the injectors to be placed there.
3. Custom fuel rail.
4. AFC controller.

#2 will KILL you in cost.

First off the M62 is 180mm wide and the M90 is 192mm wide. The main problem is with the fuel injectiors and the fuel rail. If you look at the Series 2 L67'* they have the injectors in the heads itself because the M90 is so wide. On the Series 1 L67'* the injector are in the lower intake manifold because the M62 is smaller. Not only are the injectors in the lower intake manifold they aim at the head, so the top of the injector and fuel rail actually sits over the supercharger.

Mounting a M90 to a Series 1 is possible (anything is possible) but for the cost and R&D work your better off using your $$ on other mods (ie. like a cam) that will yeild bigger gains.
