Default 255 x 50 x 16 "Drag Radials"...Will they rub?

I found a GREAT deal on some 255x50/16 Drag Radials, As in under $200 for a pair....

I have some spare 16" rims for them to go on as well, so I figured I would do that instead of buying 15" steelys from the yard at $20 a piece.

Will they rub? They will be for track use only.

You will not be able to turn off the track, especially if you're in the right lane.

Why is this in Detailing and Appearance if you're asking about track use and tire rubbing?

What brand of slick? What wheels? Not that it really matters, but maybe you'd like to run your selection by us. Some slicks suck. Some don't. Nobody should buy slicks of any size without posting specifics.

If you're concerned about the way they'll LOOK on your car, I'll leave this here. If you want to discuss fit/function/performance, we'll need to move it.

The question stands. Is Hans interested in the way they'll LOOK?

That'* why I assume he posted in here.

example of the tires I'm getting

they have 0 track passes and were meant for a GP, however the guy ended up selling the car before he ever needed them.

I know people run 255 width tires on the 96-99s without rub, these are slightly smaller in overall diameter than 225x60x16s.

How bad will they rub and where? What slick sizes are others running?

too late when I posted this last night, please move to correct forum. .

255'* will rub at full-lock on a 92-99. Especially when you deflate them for track passes. The sidewall gets wider when you deflate. How much will be hard to tell, but those are a soft compound. Not sure you want that rubbing. Don't forget nearly every 92-99 rubs the inner splash shield. Both of my cars do with stock width tires. Gordy had to modify his inner fenders to get his to work, yours will be worse with track deflation.

Ask yourself why the GP owner is selling them. Or ask him. He may have had full-lock steering issues. That'* how I got my slicks.

I do not rub on the splash shield. The GP owner is selling them because his trans exploded. He decided to sell the GP and get a trans am instead.

I'm looking for input on people who own 255x50x16 tires, NOT stock tires as mentioned in my original post.

I can avoid making a full lock turn, no problem. rubbing while going straight is what I'm worried about.
