Default Performance Air Filter for my 97 Bonneville

I'm wondering if it'* worth it to spend the $35-50 on a performance air filter such as a K&N or an AirHog. I'm mainly interested in a mileage tweek, though a bit more power is always a good thing.

If you have any other mileage tweaks to pass along, I'd be glad to hear them.

Thanks, Mark

A high flow filter will help a lot. Also, opening up the exhaust will increase mileage.

Spending 100 bux on a full setup with metal pipe and giant cone filter will provide WAY better milage, and performance over just a drop in panel filter. It'll pay for itself nicely if you don't floor it all the time too. Mine paid for itself on one trip to canada.

It helps but I have honestaly I really only look at it from the horsepower reason. Even though I haven't gone CAI, I belive it'* worth it.....

Pipe + FIlter (worlds worst at the time) + premium unleaded + cold Mich. air + 73 MPH = 40 MPG.

On two cars. same time, no fluke

Default CAI kit

OK, I've looked for a CAI pipe/filter online and can't find one that'* for a 97 Bonneville. Any idea where I can find one?

Thanks, Mark.

AutoZone has a Rice pipe that can be fit to our cars There is no manufacturer that makes a CAI to fit specifically for our cars

Default tube and filter or just filter?

i just got a 99 bonnie and am going to replace the air intake. i see a k&n stand alone filter for $50 and also a k&n filter with a chrome pipe for $70. is the pipe necessary? also, will the upgraded air filter help keep the engine cooler or the opposite?

THANKS!

Go with the pipe if you can. It will allow a lot more air to come in smoothly.

As for temps, I don't believe it has any affect on it.

When I installed my TEP CAI, the performance gain was amazing. However, when I drive really easy, I can watch my MPG gauge go way up.
