MSD 8.5mm wires?

im thinkin of gettin a set of MSD 8.5's , does anyone get any radio interference from those wires?

run fine in mine

Danthurs 05-19-2008 08:44 PM

No problems with mine at all

Run fine, sure.

Advantage? No. I only run them because I pull my wires/plugs every month or so on the Zilla.

Belden Premiums from NAPA are just as good for mileage and performance, and are run by more cars on our top 25 list than any other wire.

Not to mention they are cheaper (when getting Belden Max wires for a Series II 3800 ask for plug wires for a 1995 SSEi -the Series II wires are smaller than Series I wires, not to mention the larger Series I wires are cheaper than the smaller Series II wires).

Also, the LIFETIME WARRANTY that the Belden MAX wires come with are the best in the industry.

Anyone measured the resistance on the Beldens or the MSD's for that matter?

The local GP guru took some measurements on OEM Delcos at the 200K OHM setting on the multimeter and came up with the following numbers:

Short wires (front bank) : 2.2
Long wires (rear bank) : 3.5

Just curious....

IMO the warrenty on the Beldins is garbage
you have to have your receipt and original box to return them...and you can only exchange them once
I would say factory delcos or msd

I disagree. It is your responsibility to keep the reciept or box. I think the warranty on the Beldens is excellent, as you will never need to buy a set of wires again, simply take the old ones in, and exchange for new ones, my uncle has been doing it for 15 years for his K-5 Blazer, hasn't bought a single set. ;)

I've pulled up in front of two different Napa's, popped my hood open, removed the wires, went inside with them and asked for replacements as one of mine was causing a misfire. All they had to say was:

"Year, Make and model?"

How much longer they will continue this route is questionable due to the present economy. But at this point it is still a better warranty if they last 5 years, you have the box folded with the reciept and take them in. At that point you'll probably getting a $65 set of wires in exchange and is worth it IMHO.

Auto Zone and Advance auto parts don't require a receipt. Why does Napa?I did not know this and just recently went in there to exchange my 6 month old ones and was greeted by some idiot telling me it was my fault and I didnt put dielectric grease on them(which I did). Without a receipt and the original box they are worth less.
