Default 99 SLE upgrades

Hey, I'm just brainstorming. Yes, I've finally gotten the performance bug for my 99 SLE. So, what do you think of the following?

ZZP Water pump underdrive pulley:

Or maybe the electric water pump:
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=237&catid=109

Alternator underdrive pulley:
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=206&catid=111

High velocity intake insert:
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...ts1.php?id=214
To go with it, a new UIM:
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=629&catid=113

Stage 1 L36 throttle body:
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=223&catid=113

High flow fuel filter:
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=579&catid=113

160°F thermostat:
http://www.intense-racing.com/Mercha...roduct_Count=2

False knock elimination kit:
http://www.intense-racing.com/Mercha...oduct_Count=24

K&N drop-in filter:
http://www.intense-racing.com/Mercha...oduct_Count=19

Some of these things will probably happen very soon, and some may happen later. I'd like to look into the fuel system being stronger, and then lots more air coming into the engine. If I do not do the drop-in filter, what'* a good start for a CAI? I think it'* too much to buy a rice pipe, but I could have an exhaust shop make a formidable pipe. What would come first from this list? Surprisingly, I wouldn't do the UIM because it seems to have been replaced, and I may do ZZP'* kit if this one ever goes bad.

I've started a topic or two around the various forums I frequent and mentioned some of the things needed to put on the electric WP for a 96-99. You'll need a couple extra parts.

Different alternator 00+
Different tensioner assembly 00+
PS Pump bracket 00+
After that..there might be some grinding etc to be done on the TA mount.

Don't bother with the HVII or an HV3 unless you do rockers or a cam.
Your engine won't be flowing enough higher up in the RPM band to make use of it.

And as far as the electric waterpump goes, I thought the fitment problem was only with 96-99 L67s?

I had no issues putting the electric waterpump on my 95 L36 and didn't know there was a difference to a 96-99.

Either way I think you should take the money you would put torward the electric w/p and put it torwards ER rockers.

L36s have no need for a 160*. Go with a 180* if you haven't already done so.

False knock kit...that'* fine and dandy. Just go get some peel-n-stick sound deadener at your local sound shop.

High flow fuel filter? You can only flow as much as your pump can flow. I'd buy a stock filter and leave well enough alone unless you need to up your fuel pressure. Either an adjustable FPR and/or a new fuel pump will net better results.

All the other stuff....eh, might make power...might not. Never messed with underdrive pulleys so I have NFC how much power they gain.

EDIT - Wow that sounded so unlike me. Must be the meds talkin' :?

Supposing I were to go with just the two underdrive pulleys instead of an electric water pump, that would be a pretty easy mod, right? BillBoost, thanks for the link. I may consider an electric water pump some time in the future.

For now, I could also get the drop-in filter or a CAI and wrap some exhaust and transmission parts in Dynamat. I figured the "false knock elimination kit" was cheaper than getting Dynamat outright, but if it'* not, then you probably get very little padding with the kit.

I already have a 180 thermostat, but the car takes a while to warm up, according to the dashboard. However, the engine gets fairly warm soon, so I think the readout is completely incorrect. In fact, when the car "warms up," it'* barely over 100, and that'* with city driving and idling. If I were to take out the thermostat, how could I tell if it has failed in the open position?

With the high flow fuel filter, I thought I could get away with perhaps never changing the filter since there'* more filtering material.

If I were to need to replace the UIM, would the performance suffer if I were to add in the HV intake instert? I might as well, but perhaps not if I'm going to cam the car. I would really like to put in something like an XP Hot cam or S1X, but I think cams are harder on the engine than rockers are. Plus, the cam I have now works, and I would rather not touch the bearings if I don't need to. A complete cam/head/rocker engine overhaul with headers could probably be done at about 200K miles or so.
