curious.....l67 in a 93 ssei?
im just curious about this...i searched some and looked at l67swap.com and no one seemed to know
how easy is it to swap a l67 into a 93 ssei? l67swap.com seemed to think EVERYTHING would bold up and its plug and play...sounds to good to be true
thats assuming the ssei would keep the 4t60ehd...but wouldn't there be a confusion with a obdII designed engine, and a OBDI computer? the OBDII computer shouldn't plug write into OBDI wiring...
anyone actually done it?
the new beater im getting is a high mileage 93 ssei....engine cant have to much left in it, i think the supercharger snout is bad, it rattles at idle.

The 93 SSEi already has an L67.
I assume you're talking about a Series II swap? Go with the L67 from a 96 and it'* entire wiring harness and trans. That'* the 4T60 also. Even though it'* a Series II. Or just do the whole thing from a 97 or later with the 4T65. A few swaps have been done.

would the fact the a 96 is obdII be a problem? from what i understood, the guys there said a 96+ l67 would bolt up and plug into my existing harness'*. confused about the pcm though, i dont think the stock would work with a l67, and i dont think the donor'* pcm would plug into the existing harness (being obd II not OBD I )
what im looking for is anyone who'* actually swapped a 93 ssei motor for a 96+ motor....from what i read, its a very easy plug and play swap

A lot of the fireo guys use the 95 bonnie pcm with 4t60/series2 swaps.
I'm thinking keep your harness, hook it up to the series 2 (you'll have to add a knock sensor), splice in a 94/95 pcm, keep your 4t60-hd tranny, and get a chip from gm tuners. He'* already done one 93 ssei to L67 chip so the chip should pretty much perfect the first time out.
You won't have to worry about switching to OBD2 not to mention there'* no aftermarket pcm for the 96 ssei powertrain.

You need all the parts from a 96+. The computer, trans, wiring, engine, and other stuff. Randman also noticed that fuel sensors were different so you may run into trouble there as well. It is doable, you just have to work out all the electrical issues. If you look at Randman1'* frankenbonne threads, you can get a good idea of the issues you might encounter. Would be easiest to find another 93 motor.

It should bolt in without a problem but it'* definately not a plug and play with the electrical though. Would you have the PCM in the stock 93 location or the stock 96+ location? If you chose inside the car as in the 93, you would be splicing about 70+ wires to the 93 harness and probably find that you are missing a couple coming through the firewall.
I used the complete 97 engine harness and a section of the inside half of the firewall connector in order to integrate with the vehicle'* wires. The PCM remained under the hood as it was on the 97. There was a total of 44 wires that come through the firewall connector and about 8 or so had no connection due to the vehicle not being equipped with certain things such as a boost gauge and the EBTCM for Magnasteer.

i was just looking around and saw a few people say it would bolt up and plug and play, so i thought id see if there was truth to it.. to good to be true i guess (insane aftermarket)
how does the 93 have more grunt though? i know the ratings are similiar (i believe 93'* were rated at 265 or 270ft lbs, 96+'* were 280) but 96+'* are very underated, dyno'* showed they put out 310+ on average for torque (flywheel numbers)....or were 93'* that underrated to?
i may do a few go fast things....like a drop in and a pully, but im not to worried about the performance.....i suppose if the motor does take a dump, i have to find a 93 sc motor, 94-95'* probably wouldn't even work...same with the tranny, 93 ssei only...right?

Mikey, look at what RPM'* they deliver their peak torque and hp at. I can kill a Series 2 off the line and through the intersection. It'* a matter of WHERE the power is.
