i own a 96 se. Its says 97-2003. Is there a difference between 96 and 97?

i too have an SE with an intake pretty close to yours, and when I took the MAF screen out it was a little louder and it idled a little rougher, no real performance gains. I put mine back in.

This maybe true but, are you telling me you didn't notice any differance? It may not be the ultra performance upgrade but, I noticed a big change in torque. I haven't taken it out on the interstate yet but, a few laps around the neighborhood. I'm impressed with the differance. A 35' patch of rubber leaving the diveway told me this was a good improvment. I'm not done yet. The air box is in the works.
I noticed some differance, but not a great difference until i built a custom ram Air induction with a heat shield. Also make sure you have a closed end cone filter not an open! Next is a new PCM from Intense!!! That will be the big differance!

You can make your own, go to a home improvement store and get some plexi. Then put a good insulator on it, like header wrap or something.
