Performance Shift?
Does anyone know if we can enable performance shift in our SSE/SE cars by grounding out pin #21 from the PCM? I have a Grand Prix that I can and have done this with. I may check to see on mine,(1998 SE). Just wondering if anyone knew off hand.

I don't know about your year, but from 92-95, performance shift ENABLES what you would call NORMAL shifting. "NORMAL" shifting in my car is a reduced shift point for efficiency. It'* backwards of what you're thinking.
This was verified between a 93SSEi (mine, with the perf shift option) and a 93SSE (Jseabert'*, without). We swapped console buttons. He had none, I have 'em all.

If your car does not have the performance shift button it is not in the PCM, so grounding the pin does nothing. For the cars without the performance shift, it is just on all the time. The only reason grounding the pin worked in your GP is because it has a DHP PCM.

no if you use performance shift option it is the same as if you did not have it on all of the bonnevilles that we have tried and if you want it you can connect a resistor to the terminal i cant remember that the resistance needs to be but it you look you might find the post from last winter when they were testing it

I live out in independence ky I go to Simon Kenton High School It is only like 15 min from Florance and about 20 from Noter Dame Academy.
I'm saving up for a newer car since I wreked my car last winter hit a curb head on I had it fixed but there are still some problems with it and my AC went out. I'm going with a 2002 Grand Prix GT.
