Default Adding An Air Compressor

I agonized over where to put it and seems that Perf/Brainstorming was the best place.

I have a 1999 SE, I don't have any suspension components that require an air compressor but I want to add one so I can inflate things and the tires and things of that nature. I want it to look factory.

I've never seen the insides of a SSEi, regarding the air compressor location, apperance etc. I'm assuming I need the compressor, wiring, and the switch/tools to use it?

And any help on how to read wiring diagrams or at least give me some ideas on how to read them...

The air compressor itself is up in the front of the car in the engine bay if I recall correctly. You'd need the rear plastic trunk trim, which would have the switch and hose attachment, I believe a solenoid, and the line.

You might be able to get away with mounting the compressor in the back somewhere as you won't have the ELC, but I am not completely sure on that.

You'll also want to trunk trim out of a 96-99 if you have the trunk lockout button there.

Another option would be the switch and attachment from a 88-91 SSE, as it was off to the side, and looked like an ad on. Then you could put it on one side or the other in the trunk.

Jeffo the 96-99 compressor sat behind the rear passenger tire

it would be easy, a couple of wires and the air tubes, and youd be all set

Cody,

has anyone ever told you how long it takes to fill anything up with that compressor? I'm not sure its worth all the trouble.

you would have the same, if not better luck, with this: http://www.macys.com/catalog/product...BannerID=PD558

No, like I said, I've never experienced anything related to SSEi beside driving one.

It'* more of a starting mod for me (like ddalder adding nav and heated washer fluid) and also for fun and practice wiring etc.

I thought about this randomly last night. I was gonna look for a higher volume pump that would still do high pressure and figure out if I could wire it in.

I think we all understand that. We're just letting you know that the stock compressor is really damn slow.
