Magnaflow Cat Question

1 Attachment(s)
I'd like to install a magnaflow cat and was wondering what other members have used on a vehicle like mine (1999 SSE L36). I read the Tech info on cats, but it is several years old now. I think I would like to keep the rear O2 sensor and don't want to have to deal with throwing codes. Below is a pic of my stock cat.

I recently purchased and did a self instal on a 97 SSEi. It was a Magnaflow high flow cat and was a direct bolt on with the O2 sensor bung preinstalled, exactly like factory.

Do you recall which model number your cat was?

On the invoice it has # 23437 but I don't know if that is there internal # or Magnaflow number. I googled it and came up with:

I remember the front flange being like that and by the looks of it, It was a perfect fit for me but I purchased a complete exhaust.

Barry keep in mind that going to high flow did change the sound of my 97, and in Canada the pricing I got was $150.00, but I've seen them cheaper online although with shipping cost it may end up being the same price. I found mine local and just picked it up. In the picture the bung is on the opposite side so you'll have to just turn it 180 d. You will also have to get 3/8" nuts and bolts so I just went with 304 stainless so I didn't have to worry as much about rust.

I've seen them online for 121.43 plus 9 bucks shipping. I have not checked to see if I can find them locally. As far as the noise goes, I will keep my resonator and stock muffler. What affect did it have on the sound? Louder? Mellower?

I used a Magnaflow high flow cat, resonator, and walker muffler. All bolt on 2.5". The sound was about 20-25%% louder but can't truly describe the sound.
