Default My choice for new shoes:

Long past due for both cars. First the SLE. I chose a tire closer to summer performance than pure all-season. I'll give up a little in the winter (to be made up with a 5psi pressure drop and a wider tire) for a little sticker in the summer. These are already a VAST improvement over the no-name generics I had on the car:

And for the Zilla? Purely a summer traction pure-performance tire. Directional tread, sticky summer tire that does ok in the rain, but not the bitter cold, snow, or ice. That'* what the other car is for. Toyo T1R, and even wider yet. Already having loads of fun on these:

Zilla'* were bald (only made half their tread life expectation) and the SLE'* were the same crappy tires that were on there when I bought it. Both cars will be good for awhile now. The T1R'* are only good for 20k, but that'* really about 4 years or more with my average mileage, call it a couple the way I drive.

The Kumho'* are 40k tires. They should make 30 maybe.

Alignment was out (actually pretty bad, but I never felt it) possibly due to the bad hubs during/after the last alignment, or a change due to the new hubs. Last alignment was just over a year ago, hubs were.....in June.

So no pro-rate this time (last set of tires on the Zilla were pro-rated 45%).

Lines on all 4 fronts are already gone. I'm getting the factory 'nubbins' from the mold off, and breaking through the greasy mold release. I'll have both cars rotated by the two tire shops that installed them (different shops) in a couple weeks.

Drool, those tires look good.

And Phat

Wait till the roads dry up a little..,,,,there will be a blue haze over Corvallis. Zilla will be scuffing in his new boots.

These T1R'* have surprisingly good traction in the wet. Much better than the old baldies, anyway. I only have about 5 miles on 'em so far, but I'll get 'em broken in good today. Gotta go to Albany and back this morning. Raining good, and not snowing yet.

If it starts snowing before then, we'll take the green car instead.

Nice choices of tires. Is the Kuhmo non-directional? The tread pattern implies it is non-directional.

Please stop saying "I'll take the green car instead..."

I may have to take the green car now. It'* been snowing since about 5 minutes after I posted that.

(no back seat in that one right now, so Bo will have to stay home).

Kumho'* are non-directional. But a stickier tire than the directionals I've had the last two times on the Zilla. Should make up for it. So the SLE has perhaps an equal tire to the Zilla'* for the last 4 years, and wider too (went with 235'* on that).

At the track, when the slicks go on the Zilla, the SLE will get the fronts off the Z.
