Default My new Toys for the 2005 race season..... Long Post ;)

Over the winter I was talking to a friend of mine who is going to be bringing some nice products to market this year. At the time I was not really looking to do much of ANYTHING to my car this year as I was content with where the car went, with what little it had at the time. Around this time, I also decided to drop on my 3.0 pulley for giggles on my modular setup, when performance was the same, it convinced me to just leave the car be and be done with it, that is, until I noticed I gained no boost from the pulley change. I later tracked down the problem to the Vacume T fitting under the supercharger snount. Once corrected, I gained 4lbs of boost with the 3.0 on, and the car REALLY woke up. It'* latest showing of how it likes to run, made me contact my friend again about some parts for this year.

Through our talking I decided to let my car be a test platform for some of his products coming out this year. I agreed to do this as I know the man to be a standup guy, and also care about individuals and having fun. My car will be sponsored by his company this year. This sponsorship is starting with Install help ONLY, and I have fully paid for this product myself, so I feel I have an ability to talk about it without the feeling I am advertising. If mods do not see this as OK, I can restate my posts. With that said, I decided to take on one of his potentially best offerings for the 3800 community and not start off with something small like exhaust systems or cold air intakes.

This here is an image of my new toys:

This is a set of his classification Stage 2 heads that will be in production after testing them on my motor. Prelim flow numbers are in also and have me rather amazed, but I am not one to bench race either, and will reserve my recommendation until I test these puppies out and am satisfied with the results. What I can say however, is these WILL be affordable... by our community standards anyway hehe.

Again not one to bench race, I am setting a goal I feel is attainable using these heads. I will be dynoing my car BEFORE and AFTER the install... in the same weekend. I am an instant gratification person and want to see how they will perform right after being bolted to the block. I will be running race fuel for both dyno'* as to not have anything botching the numbers other than what it did before and after.

The before mod list will be:
3.0 pulley
42.5 lb Injectors
VS camshaft
INTENSE PCM
SLP headers
CAI
Autolite 103 Plugs
Drilled 180 Tstat
No Catalyst / Resonator on stock Exhaust

This list will be the same for the AFTER dyno. I will then tune and dyno on my race pulley of a 2.8 size. My goal is 340WHP and a sub 12.5 1/4 at IDD6.

I Hope I can reach this goal, as I will be JUST a tick over $2,000 total into my car buying used headers and doing the install work myself. Very 'affordable' for a mid/low 12 second Bonneville.

I will post EVERY possible detail on everyting in my car after the dyno'* are complete, and will post the numbers regardless of how they turn out. If they perform as we hope, it would be a great alternative to a an Intercooler setup or a larger/upgraded blower.

Thanks for listening, Install is in T-Minus 10 days.

Take care

Hot Damn Shiney heads you got there!

I'm eager to see the results so far, as 3800 aftermarket heads have been lacking IMO.. More competition is great for everyone! Keeps em honest, prices low, and new stuff coming out!

And not to take your thunder away at all, someone is trying to get 4V heads going in the GP community. Price is ludacris as well.

I know about the 4 valve heads coming, IMO, but I hope I am wrong, the gains will not outweigh the 5x higher price... those heads are meant for going WAY past where most of us will ever even try.

This is a lower cost solution for a part of our cars that needs help to optimize the setup

It'* all good though

Those seem like nice products, especially with all the problems going on with ZZP, and Intense, its a good time to hit the market.

I thought they were saying they were like $4500? If thats the case, its only 2.5x higher than what INTENSE or ZZP heads go for right now. (of course I don't know about the heads you are talking about) They should provide a huge gain, especially because they are going to be aluminum. And, you can save in some aspects because you won't have to do as many mods to get into the low 12'* or whatever. You would easily save yourself $2500 in mods. Personally, I don't even think its gonna happen, but if it does, it will be awesome for the 3800 community, and there will be some VERY fast cars.

And for those wondering, this isn't gonna happen for like a year +. So, its not coming out anytime soon, so people are still pretty much stuck with using ZZP or Intense for now.

These heads should be priced right around $1K flat. Half the price of IS3'* and ZZP equivilent. I am really pumped and hope we can get them dialed in, at that price point, it'* great savings for potentially the same amount of power, if not more. He has some great ideas coming down the pike.

These are Series II heads. If enough interest were shown, perhaps something for the Series I could be made.... I am more up for the thought of making an M90 Kit for the S1, I think that is the best place to start to remove the limiting M62.

We could finally have heads down where the normal guy can reach and still play with the big dogs.

Cam2K where are these guys located? - Since we are only a skip and a hop away from each other. Also S1 stuff? I have an idea who'* car can be the test car. - MINE! I'm willing to lend my car for some R&D since it just sits there in my driveway. Thomas

Personally the M62 will make more power, it'* just gotta get in and out of those combustion chambers better. I'm curious to see how some reworked heads will do on the ol' motor.
