low stock Boost vs high stock boost
My car is stock and I'm running about 7psi according to the stock gauge. My GTP was running 13 at one point  Anyway, my brother's Regal ran about 8 psi stock. Wouldn't a lower number indicate a better flowing stock set up? Meaning less chance of KR once you pulley down? I found without and intercooler or alky, anything over 10 psi will start to give you knock. So I interpret 7 psi as a good thing, correct? Maybe not for right now, but for later down the road when pulley size starts going down. On my Grand Prix I was always running too much boost. Like 11-12 with a 3.4. Which was why I always had KR.....If I had been down to 10psi after the pulley swap, I don't think KR would have been such a big problem for me.

theres many things you can do to remove KR.(wow, i give advice :grad: )
if you take some time to check the post , you will notice that everyone who have a smaller pulley , suggest (and have) i.e. colder plug, CAI, exhaust, etc.. it depend on the size of the pulley or the boost you want..same thing with a 3.4 pulley, at least you need colder plug, CAI, and a 160-180 thermostat(minimum) to eliminate chance of KR. lower than 3.4 exhaust is a must to add/have a performance exhaust and after, im not qualified enought to answer you.. :ack: hehe |
Your lack of boost is not necessarily an indication of better flow. You may literally be dumping boost. This could be caused by a vacuum leak, stuck boost controller, or faulty wastegate. Or it could simply be a faulty MAP sensor.

Plus, from what I hear, not every supercharger is machined exactly the same, let alone many other engine parts. Slight differences may also cause slight changes in boost.

like i said, you guys are very useful, im learning a lot from you about bonneville, thx!! |
You guys might all consider the BCS adjustment mod. It could be limiting your boost right now, and it's a free 5-minute adjustment.
|
When you do it though it f's your mileage....I sure noticed a big difference in mileage. Was worth the power until I started driving to Mankato every other weekend (140 miles round trip)
|
Had no effect on my mileage whatsoever. It just gets into the boost quicker.

I noticed up to an 80 mile difference per 1/4 tank? |
may be someone already ask you that question but, what it really does?as i read in post,
it open the boost faster, right? but did it close it faster too? or it give you full boost till u release the throttle? im planning on doing this, but i just want to make sure how it work and how it will help. thx  |
