Looking for wheels and tires, need advice.
Want now wheels and tires for my 97 SSEi. What is the widest tire I can put on my car without having to recalibrate my speedometer? I was considering getting 17" wheels but will have to look at the price difference between 16". I'm looking at getting 4 tires and wheels, these would be summer only tires and I woudl get snow tires for winter. I'll mount them on the stock rims.
Was looking at a set of Fuzion ZRI 225/55R16 These have an overall diameter of 25.7" and a width of 9'1" I think stock is 26.6" and 8'9" Looked at a set of 255/45R17, these are 26.1" in diameter but 10.1" wide. I'm thinking that's a bit wide. Theres also a set of 245/45R17 that's 25.7" and 9.6" My guess is this is a bit wide as well? So if anyone can give me limits on width, hight, etc. I can look some more. Thanks |
why not a 245/50/17?

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...Name=All+Tires These are 16", but it's a good price and they look to be good tires. |
I strongly suggest buying tires from this web site https://www.tiresavings.com/tireShop...n=findCombined Tire prices are much cheaper and they ship them to your door. I 4 Fuzion HRi tires for 42$ a tire. They took less than a week to ship. These tires have plenty of grip. The ZRi's should have more there only 73 a tire at the 225/60/16 size.

I'm running 245/55/16's on the Zilla and my speedo is only 0.1% off.

www.tirerack.com and www.tires.com are good choices for both rims and tires.
the first link allows you to view your car with the different styles and sizes. |

Using this http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html .
I used the stock tire size (225/60-16) and going to a 245/45-17 would make your speedo read 60MPH when you are actually going 57.9 MPH Using willwren's new size, the speedo reads 60 MPH when you're actually going 60.0 MPH |

I guess i should chime in here considering i work at a sears auto center
Firestone tires are NOT normal stock at sears and at mine we wont even order them, we just simply dont deal with firestone anymore and we barely deal with bridgestone and even then its limited at best, your best bet for them is to go to an actual firestone dealer, the price will be better anyway. SSC wheels are garbage, run and run fast. they bend easy and they loose their coating and corrode very easy. |
