Default Intense PCM Question

So... if I were to order an Intense PCM for my 97 SLE... nothing done but drilled and hollowed out air box, would I be making and headway? Would it be noticeable in what I like to call the 'butt dyno'? For a hundred bux, you can't go wrong. So... I'm definitely considering. I'm looking at all the options available for it and I'm not too sure where to go with it lol. Any input would be appreciated!

You'll probably FEEL it, but it'* really not what I'd call an idea just yet. It would be nice to see at least a high-flow cat on the car right now.

My opinion is that you'd feel a cat more, and it would really bring a PCM to life later. I'm personally not familiar (from experience) with the INTENSE PCM myself, so others may have other opinions.

The PCM is generally intended to 'wake up' other mods and get the engine running better with them, but to some extent, a bone-stock car may benefit from better tuning.

Well that makes sense, and is somewhat what I was thinking as well so thank you for confirming my thoughts. Hmm... high flow cat is probably expensive... but if I want to get any kinda horsepower outta this thing I suppose that'* one of the first ways to go. I suppose it'* physics; you can only push in as much air as the engine will let out lol.

The Cat will cost you about 60 bucks from www.just magnaflow.com and another 20-40 for install. You'll feel it at the top end.

Want more bottom end and midrange? Port match your LIM to your heads.

Well heck, I could just have them throw on that crossflow muffler as well. I noticed the SSEis have the 'crossflow' muffler, correct me if I'm using stupid terminology here. However, could I nab one of those from autozone with some spunky sound on there and throw it on at the same time? I just want to make one pipe turn into two, and I know I've made another thread, but taking something from the SSEi sounds so much easier lol

Get it from the same website.

You get what you pay for at AZ. In other words, if you want to pay for ****, go there and pay for it.

Well I think I'm too tired to function... I can't find anything on that website, but only because it appears not to be functioning properly. I shall search some item numbers tomorrow. Thanks

LIM = Lower intake manifold.

And for what it'* worth, I just picked up a Magnaflow cat off ebay for $47, shipped to my door. That was for a 94006 (I think), which is a 2.5" diameter pipe, 16" long unit. You might need a 2.25" for your application. Measure twice, buy once.
