Lifter question
Do the 00+ Bonneville's have solid or hydrallic lifters? If they are hydrallic do they make solid ones? :?
|
I do believe they're hydraulic....why would you want solid??
I thought Hyd was better? |
Are you refuring to hydrolic bleed down lifter's?
if so....from what i know, my uncle's '67 Galaxy had hyd lifters and he had to have then switched with solid one do to the fact that he lost oil presure at red lights and what not. the guy that did the work for him (Don Palmer, Ford race engine builder) said that the hyd lifters where realy only for the race applications were the rpm was at a higher level most of the time. Then again i could be mixing this up with somthing similer so wait for more opinions |
Solid lifters will generally tolerate aggressive cam profiles better but, need periodic adjustment.
Hydraulic lifters are quieter and do not need adjustment after they are installed. Most engines from the mid 70's on use hydraulic lifters and I can't think of any after the mid 80's that don't, other than a few overhead cam applications. |

I have seen a few Solid lift applications and way way back in the day they were used in the Hi Po engines of the time... But did require adjustments... But they sure make some power... But its not something I'd have in an everyday driver... I'm sure we could get a performance minded Roller Hydraulic lifter for the 3800 applications... Doesn't comp cams make lifters for the 3800? __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

Our lifters are the best of all worlds - full roller hydraulics.
