Spark Plugs with MSD coils?
When i first put my msn coils in i had NGK G-power platinum plugs, after a little while the car lost power and responsiveness so i changed them to NGK v-power which are NGKs cheap Copper plugs. It ran actually preaty good on these for about 1500km and now it'* kinda loseing power and there'* no more smooth idle like before. I heard that the msd coils go through platinum plugs cause they burn them fast. And the copper ones also seem to have went preaty fast. The guys with MSD coils, what kind of plugs are you running? And would the NGK iridium be good with the MSD coils. I just don't wanna spend $60CND to buy plugs that will burn within 2000km. Thanks.

I've been using V-Power TR55'* and TR6'* with my MSD coils for quite some time now. What do you mean by losing power? Just elaborate on that more please.

Well, the reason I wanted to know what year your SSEi was is because I wanted to know if it were Series I or II. Obviously it is Series I, and I don't know about those, but on the Series II the MSD coils are useless and you are better off with stock coils. Zooomer (owner of ZZPerformance) runs stock coils on his 11 second GTP and says that they give PLENTY of voltage and MSD coils only cause problems and burn up plugs. Now I don't know if this is true for the Series I, but I dont know that I would hesitate to switch back to stock coils and new plugs and see if that is any better, because I think it may be. IIRC most, if not all of the 10 fastest FWD L67'* run stock coils. Now MSD wires on the other hand are good wires, but the coils IMO aren't worth the money or the trouble. That is just what I will tell you from my experience with L67'*.

With the series 1 i do notice an increase in responsivenss and mid range power, but if im gonna have to replace plugs every 1500km than its really not worth it to me. Im gonna get the exhaust leak checked out tuesday morning and see what that does hopefully its the cause of all this. It'* leaking where the rear manifold meets the pipe going to the muffler, it'* the "donut gasket".

I'd only go MSD coils if mine were bad (like Davids were) but otherwise i don't see why you should be going thru plugs THAT quick. Is it seat of the pants power you seem to have lost, or problems.

I would look over your system entirely to be sure what else could be causing you problems. Also the gapping you use will also play into the situation.
I will get you a breakdown of exactly what plugs to use directly from MSD. I also have a Nitrous professional I work with who can help out with merits of MSD and what plugs he suggests.
One other point. Any time you add a part regardless of its merits you must consider how it effects or works with the rest of your car. Your numbers are mostlikly going to be somewhat unique within the cars system and the product or other components of the car may need to tweak accordingly.
I like to call this fuzzy math.
There are many options you can buy for your 3.8l that require many other mods or tweaking of other parts for them to provide "some" hp. never are the numbers provided with the tweaking alone before adding the final product. This is not regarding MSD this is regarding other shops and some of there products. Just a small rant
MSD has however done there homework and will most likely suggest you use there entire system and if you are running a stock setup to make sure it is properly calibrated for your specific set up. They will probably agree that the stock unit will work, but not with as much performance potential. I mostly suggest MSD for a serious Nitrous set up.
