L67....I'm constantly amazed at the good engineering decisions GM made on this engine, and the cars that would have been so much better if they used it more liberally.
Ex. Guy I work with has a Buick Rendezvous....anemic as hell...plenty of space. A 3800, or better yet a L67, I'd buy LONG before I'd think of a Escalade.
The L67 makes it soe easy to be naughty and nice at the same time.

I guess I didn't know there was a 5.0 DOHC V8.
Between the two choices, I would pick the modular 5.4. I think there'* less of an aftermarket, but you could do some innovative things and really squeeze some power out of it. Or find yourself an M112 and set it up like a Lightning motor.
Or just go for the Ford GT all-aluminum 5.4......

The 5.0 is a racing motor, and it costs $15k for a reason. The GM equivalant LS7 makes 105+ more HP and costs the same, you do the math.
Why all these threads about engines? None of these will reside in a bonneville, and that'* what this forum is about.
