When it occured to me...could an L67 TB be put on an L36 engine? (specifically, the '98 LeSabre) Which year(*) might fit?

They use the same TB-to-UIM gasket, right? And the same bellows? And it looks like the three holes for the UIM studs are in the same place, yes? How about the coolant holes? And is that an IAC "channel" in the upper left of the rear plate?

Do they use the same sensors? Same throttle cable and CC cable connections?

The L67 TB probably doesn't have the threaded hole for the support bracket, and the big "flange" at the rear of the TB might need to be shaved down in spots...what other machining would be required to make it fit?

(Pardon me if this is well-known info already...I did do a quick search on this, but was unable to narrow down the results to something promising...)

Most of your questions are answered with no.

The L67 mating surface is an oval opening. Doug tried to modify one to match, and hasn't tested it yet.

I really don't think you're going to be outflowing your stocker any time soon. I suggest shaving the throttle shaft first, then think about a larger TB in a year or two when your mods support it.

Testing on Doug'* modified L67 TB should commence within the next couple of weeks. I need to get with Thomas and figure out a time when we can swap it over and tune, since my fueling tables will be WAY off after the swap. Agra, if you can wait until then, I'll have some valuable info that should help you decide on a TB option.

Yeah, based on my calculations / predictions, my stock TB should be good through a front PEM and some rockers (both have been obtained but not yet installed)...but I'm contemplating some head work down the road that might put me into needing a bigger TB. Just thinking ahead! (and, as usual, looking for a low-cost, yet adequate, solution )

I think the L67 TB I have is from a '98 or '99. It only had one vacuum port, but Doug said there was just some kind of metal "plug" where the other vacuum port is usually located on a '96 (which had the 4T60E-HD). He knocked the plug out and put in a second vacuum port so I would have two of 'em, just like my current TB. The testing will be done on my car, which is a '97 with the L36 and a bunch of mods. From what we've seen, all the sensors are exactly the same and will be swapped over from my current TB. Throttle and cruise control cables should also hook up with no issues. I'll give you the full rundown when I do the swap.
