I was hoping there was something I could do I really like the car but it seems that there isn't much to change trying to find a compatable exhaust system at the moment

even if you just buy certain peices like an high flow cat and a more free flowing muffler and a diff resonator ...if your car has one ..you can just cut the old out and weld/clamp in new

Thanks. I can't seem to find alot either. I read through these forums and I see people using dynomaxx parts etc but their website say they aren't compatable so I just don't know what I can or can't do I have even called a couple shops and they said there isn't much to do to this car. Any ideas will help thanks

This is mostly hearsay, but would give us an idea as to which direction to go. My understanding is that an L27 is essentially a LN3 with a differant top end. Some have swapped heads, that gains you 5 horsepower on paper. Also, I believe you can get rockers for certain generations of L27 <I think you need a special stud size that only 94 and 95 L27'* would have> and that would get you a little more ground in the horsepower race. Exhaust is pretty free flowing, especially with the L27 manifolds, especially when ported. High flow catalytic converter will gain you some ground also, along with a good intake system. Porting and polishing is worth it, however you have to know what you are doing, and 1 mistake can cost you new parts. Best left to the pro'*. This is all stuff to give you a bit more go. If you want more, you can do a custom camshaft grind <$$$>, add forced induction <Turbo, or maybe topswap from a Series 1 L67> but the LN3 will not take much boost, or the big ticket item, a motor swap, preferred is usually a Series 2 L67. Not only does does this get you 240hp out of the box, it also opens the aftermarket for you. If you are interested, there is 1 case well documented, find it by searching 'frankenbonne' by randman1.

Wow, I got off on a tangent, sorry! 7 years in this place will do that to you!

Dead end road buddy. Been there, done that, wasted hundreds of dollars.

There is only ONE worthwhile way to make an LN3/S1 3800 go faster, and that'* to port the heads and the lower intake manifolds. By porting I mean enlarging the ports a bit and smoothing out all imperfections.

Custom exhausts can be made by any exhaust shop. They should have a pipe bender.

A cold air intake will help, but it won't be worth the cost.

Save your money and get an engine swap. The aftermerket is nonexistent.

There are roller rockers for this engine, and they are made by Yella Terra. However, they are made to use 5/16" studs, which were used only on 94-95 L27'*, so you'd have to swap heads in order to use them, and they carry a $375 price tag with very minimal gains that you wouldn't even notice unless you had ported heads. The heads on this engine flow like crap, so you'll be extremely limited to what you can do until you open those up, and even then there'* only so far you can go.

Do yourself a favor and start researching into an engine swap if you want more power. The LN3 really is a dead end road and it doesn't go very far.
