hot cam
alright, so i have decided to throw in a cam.. but with all the different choices, am a little worried about buying the wrong thing. so i was wondering if anyone knows what type of cam i should go with- given the mods i have currently.. this is the most expensive choice on zzp... for the hot cam which i think i saw someone else using on this site, and so i am assuming it'* the best choice, but how can i be sure?
also, probably not supposed to be in this thread, but been having hard time turning on my car, can this be due to the smaller pulley?
"zzp X-P Hot Cam with 90# springs, mod'd retainers and double roller timing chain $550"

What are your goals in terms of HP and 1/4 mile times? And how important is driveability to you?
I don't know much about */c cams but the answers to those questions will help narrow it down some.
And don't forget to check out Intense (www.Intense-racing.com)for cams too.

You really do need to figure out what your goals are for the car before deciding on cams.
However, my personal opinion based on what I've personally seen from various cars with various cams, is the XP cam will give you the best mix of drivability and power gains. It doesn't idle like a big cam, but it gives good gains. After we put the XP cam in my dads car when we started it up I went over and looked at the old cam to make sure that we didn't somehow accidentally put the stock one back in thats how well it idled. IMO the XP doesn't affect drivabillity in any noticable amount if tuned properly.
At your mod level though, I'm not sure that you are ready for a cam.

id definately go for the xp hot cam. adds tons of power but is still streetable. makes more power than the intense cam. i was gonna put one of those in my car when i was going to swap, but my plans changed.
