Default K&N - bad for MAF?

Hi gang,

One more question ... has anyone had bad luck using a K&N filter crapping up the MAF with filter oil? I'd like to go with a drop in and modify the front of the airbox, but was hoping for assurance

Thanks!

Dan

Jr'* right on again. I actually blot the oil off the filter after refreshing it with a loose weave cotton cloth. We've had 2 smoked MAF sensors this year on the Forum due to this problem. If you're careful, you'll be ok, but if you're also trying to remove the screen, wait for my observations on the CAI conversion and how it relates. The MAF screen entry for the Techinfo section will carry this over-oiling caution. You can see what my intake looks like on my website. I'm running the K&N in it. The filter itself is about 40 or 50 bucks. The tubing to modify the box was another 10. That'* almost half the price of an ADTR intake, so if your budget allows, I'd lean that way. You're Series 1 like me, so you'll have to wait to see if it fits right. I'm guinea pigging the ADTR intake for Hector in my Series 1.

Got it, thanks.

Cool web page! I was a laser guy through undergrad and grad school (I do radar these days).

Have you tried out the small pulley from scperformance? I haven't been able to get in touch with them, it'* kind of annoying. There'* never anyone there when I call.
