Newb here with engine swap question.
Hello to all. well i'm new to this site. I spend a lot of time at camaross.com and f-body sites b/c i own an 11 second 1994 firebird TransAm. My daily driver however is a 1994 slightly run-down bonneville SE i picked up while working at a car dealership. It'* kind of a bomb and has 245,000 miles on the clock. I bought it for $600 and it'* been running great for almost two years now, EVEN with the slight engine knock it has. These motors are great and i really can't complain about the gas mileage either.
My question is: I don't know much about these generations of motors (specifically the 3.8L) so when it comes time for the tired 3.8L that'* it it to puke out. I want to know if people are swapping in the newer 3.8L series II i believe?? mine is the TPI version. I don't know if it'* as simple as a wiring harness and computer, or if it'* even reasonably possible. Someone please let me know what my options are. I'm probably going to get a junkyard 3.8 somewhere and if it'* not much extra trouble i'd like to add the newer version engine as it'* got more power and is probably more fuel efficient.
Thanks to all!

Basically it'* a wiring harness, engine/trans combo including the axles. That is the easiest swap.
There'll be a few wiring things to be addressed, but very little.
