AutoZone New intake
AutoZone poppin off with they're intakes. Different sizes of filters and colors. Have anyone tried they're universal intake that connects together? Would you think its any good? I heard they got rid of the honda intake that comes in the plastic and replaced it with the universal, is this true?

Yeah I'm going to get the 9" K&N, its just that they didn't have the Honda intake pipe. They Had a new universal kind that connects together. There'* like 3 or 4 pipe adapters to make an intake pipe.

AEM’* DRYFLOW synthetic filter eliminates the hassle of re-oiling after cleaning and has better filtration and dust trapping capabilities than the K&N filter i believe, so the MAF sensor stays cleaner longer.

Actually, Rod, that filter does look like a decent competitor IMO. Are you running it right now?
I do believe that if I did not already have the K&N, I would consider using that AEM. Not specifically because of the "oil issue", but more so, because it offers what appears to be superior performance without the extra step of oiling and drying the filter after cleaning.
Pricing is similar.
EDIT: On topic: IIRC, that multi-piece intake kit is smooth on the inside. Not that I have seen it personally, but I recall that someone on here not long ago put one on and indicated that, while it has all those couplings oin the outside, it is smooth on the inside.
On another note: Take a look on ebay. There are all kinds of places selling inexpensive import tube kits using polished aluminum tubes. Buy one for about $9.99 plus shipping, then throw away the crap filter and replace it with one of the above (K&N or AEM)performance filters.

That plastic intake kit was also bought buy anther member who originally ordered a Spectre aluminum pipe, and got shipped the wrong part. Allegedly, the polymer that that intake kit is made from is supposed to stay cool according to the manufacturer.
I'd still prefer a one piece aluminum pipe. Those plastic kits aren't exactly cheap either.
