pipe insulation
i was looking at my setup today, and the filter/pipe was pretty hot when I checked it after I got home. Im worried about the pipe heating up the IAT sensor and making the engine run lean, where can I get some good cheap insulation I can wrap the pipe in? It doesnt have to be pretty, I just want something that works. I think I will worry about a CAI later, I want to see what this will do first.

just from a search at lowes...
http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=prod...249-470-042-03 - A little thin, but its cheap.
http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=prod...929-1410-FV516 - This looks like some good stuff, its for air ducts too it looks like.
http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=prod...24486-1410-SP1 - I think this might be good, it says it can be used on auto hoods in the product picture.
http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=prod...4437-1410-FV15 - Foil and foam tape, self adhesive.
Probably a combonation of some of these would work best. I am not sure what the maximum heat these things can take, I doubt they would work on an exhaust manifold, but when I touched my intake after I drove 30 miles it was cool enough that my hand didnt get burned. The best part is most of these are under $5.00! I just put a bunch on here hoping for some input on what might work the best.

I took off my intake pipe and cone filter because of the heat. DEI makes a heat shield for intake pipes. I had it on an old Beretta about five years ago. I actually had some left and used a piece on my stock tube.
