illuminated BONNEVILLE on trunk
How do you make the bonneville light up? i want to do that, but i was wondering if i could get some tips, and how to kill my day time running lights, cuz they wont ever turn off.
|
Well s for tips.. take your time.. all the info you need are in the techinfo.. if you have any other question.. post away or pm me. To disable the DRL that's also in the techinfo and it's just disconnecting a white resistor at the driver side.
|
That would be pretty cool. I like how some sunfires have pontiac lit up in the back .
|
For a cheap temp, I used red reflective tape
http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...81_10_full.jpg The full project, probably in the spring, will be a lot like the idea in tech info, using some clear red acrylic to refill the letters. |
Mos, I gotta say again.....your car is freaking gorgeous.
|
He likes me... http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...iles/love1.gif
Seriously, tho, thanks. I got some paint to touch up, but hopefully come spring, it'll look like that TA over in the wax thread. |
I just got one of these off Ebay for $7.99 haven't recived it yet but looking forward to it.
3rd break light in Pontiac http://myweb.thump.net/83/bontville.jpg http://myweb.thump.net/83/lightedpontiac.jpg Oh boy! :D |
I wonder if that could be fitted somehow into older bonnie's. Do you still have the link?

If you do a google search, you can find any color you want. Our local WalMart carries yellow...
|
I've seen the gold Pontiac emblem but I guess they are hard to come by.
|
Here's another ebay item http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38661
I bet if you wrote the guy he could put that on a bigger piece of vinyl that you older guys, could cut it out to the size of your third breaklight if he dosen't have the shape already. should be pretty easy to cut out. |
Nevermind wasnt really thinking when I replied. For some reason I thought it was an aftermarket light that you can install.
|
I just found out my 3rd light is out (no warning on the dash tho, hmmmm) While I'm in there, I'll look into making my own stencil....
Okay, just looked at it. How the heck do you replace that bulb? Pull the seat? |
most of those lights are changed from the trunk MOS
did you guys notice the first post side "light up the BONNEVILLE on the back".... only you 96+ers have the luxury of the pontiac in the deck lid... i wonder if he wanted to know how to light up the bumper wording.... |
Prob'ly. Would be basically the same process, though. It would involve removing some styrofoam, adding some wiring and some extra waterproofing, but it shouild still work.
|
basically...
|
Are you guys talking bout this, what Drifter has done.

either that or cutting out the indented "BONNEVILLE" in the rear bumper and installing a light...

We could give it a shot. I even have a plan to modify the instructions from Tech Info when I do my Pontiac Logo (can you say liquid acrylic boys and girls?)

Noooooo. I personally hate Gold trim. What I'm talking about is routing out the red on this pic
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-...5/IMAG0003.JPG And the refilling it with a clear red acrylic so that it loks fairly stock, but will light up like tail/brake lights. See, you made me spil my secret. On Jason's car, kinda like yours should be, it would be a matter of carefully routing out the Bonneville on the bumper, replacing it with clear plastic, and lighting behind it. Kinda like on http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=41 |
I see what you are talking about now. I was just thinking if I could paint over the black on my Pontiac logo with gold paint because of the gold trim. I see there are gold Pont emblems on some cars but I guess they are hard to come by.

With the gold pinstripe, and if you ever get the gold wheels, it'd look cool on your car. It shouldn't be that difficult, in non-shiver weather and with a small brush.
|
Or you can go to a hobby store and get some gold foil & try with that. Put it on, polish & then clear coat it.
|
Sorry for the double post. But this just came to me. You could buy the neon string that street glows buy. Drill the appropiate holes and lace the neon through. Then fill it in with glue from a hot glue gun. That way the wire is water proof and itll give more of a glue off if you use clear.
|
good idea, but isn't that stuff like $20 for 5 feet?
|
It is pricy, but it could be done easily then. Stuff like the E might be a bit for routing though. Hey Flyboy, considered painting those black boxes on each side of your rear plate gold?
|
Looking at your sig pic, the light up Bonneville on the bumper has it's easy and tough parts. The tough part will be pulling the cover. The easy part is, if you only want it lit up at night, your Plate Lights are right friggin there!! Too damned easy...
Just gotta brainstorm on a lens for the project now. |
is that limited 2 certain years?
|
If I'm not mistaken, your 94 should have the big Bonneville in the bumper, just like Jason's. Nothing much behind that but styrofoam. The actual bumper is behind the plate.
|
I believe it's mounted the same as yours MOS. We can check it out this saturday for a look see. I actually thuoght abuot looking at it when i had the car jacked up a couple weekends ago for the mudflaps, but i wasn't gonna daudle with it up.
