Do a search on "MAF screen". You will yield easily over 50 matches. This is a very common topic. Pretty much it is there to insure laminar flow to the MAF, if you remove it, you will notice a rougher idle, due to the MAF not being able to read the air flowing in correctly. Many people say leave it in, some say take it out. Pretty much it is a ongoing yes or no, with most leaning towards leaving it in.

The quickest L67'* of both generations on this Forum, and the vast majority of the cars on the top-25 quickest Bonnevilles list all run MAF screens. You're better with it than without. It'* not a SIMPLE answer, but that'* it in a nutshell.

well i remember Todd (from INTENSE-Racing) said that our cars, unless moddified to the extream can NOT out flow the maf screen meaning that the screen cam pass more air then you motor can suck any day of the week.
On a side note when i did have mine out i noticed no idle issues at all. and im now sure that the "performance increase'*" I felt where all in my head

I run "screenless" and have no idle issues. I will probably put it back in since that is the conventional wisdom.

I ran screen less on my 95 L36 for years without problems. Even with a heavily ported L67 TB I was able to get my fuel trims nearly perfect (via custom tuning and afc).
I can't really see it being a couple than HP either way though.

I removed my MAF screen and noticed a power increase. ( or so I thought ) Later the car began to feel more sluggish, throttle response was poor, etc... I got a new MAF screen from Sonoma Zr2 . Now my car is running much better than it did before . I have no knock at Part throttle anymore and I am getting more timing back (tuning issue). I will never remove the maf screen again.
