What does everyone think of the tornado intake insert???? has anyone put one of these in there car. If so was there any performance gains or mileage gains??? what do you pay for it and did you put it in a stock setup or a CAI setup??

Your MAF sensor needs a laminar flow going past it to get an accurate reading. This is why we go with smooth intakes and gradual mandrel bends. Turbulence and swirling air is bad.

In the days of carbureted engines with maze-like passages in the intake manifold, this might have been of SLIGHT benefit, but not on a modern fuel-injected car. This will hurt performance and mileage by giving inaccurate MAF readings. Your MAF sensor will be reading less air than actually exists (and the tornado will also decrease the air delivered), causing your PCM to run lean, even though it thinks the AFR is correct.

Yea, dont use it. I got one for two days, then returned it and got my money back. It is really a stupid concept. If you do, make sure the place you buy it from will accept returns.

What do you want to spin? The tornado? Or the air? What would be the purpose? It'* a restriction to air flow.

I just want to know what would happen if the tornado spun. Would it backfire because of the air being more discombobulated then stationary?

I dont know if anyone has seen the info-mercial for this product, but if i remember correctly they tested it on an old school analog dyno. I believe modern dynos are much different and much much more accurate and reavealing about power outputs.
