ok, I want to gut and fender well intake my stock box, kinda like in this article http://www.clubgp.com/cgi-asp/mods.asp?modid=51 . I only have a couple of questions. Does it take long, is it something I could mess up all that easily, and does anyone know where I can see some detailed pictures or something on how to do it?

I figured I'd just use some of the sewer ducting stuff for RVs for the intake tubing from the box. It'* pretty much the same stuff they use on the intake already and it'* cheap.

Ooops. No, it'* quite different. That'* alot of turbulence. The tubing INTENSE sells is smooth on the inside, and will out-flow any corrugated stuff like you're talking about.

OK, I shall get that then, but I still need to know if gutting it is a lengthy process, and is it easily screwed up? The reason I am asking is I wanted to know if I should search for a spare intake or could I just spend a weekend day and do it to mine?

Do a search here on 'gut airbox'. Mos95B has some pics he posted some time ago. A dremel tool is all you need.

I'd encourage you to go with a full-blown FWI, and not rely on the stock airbox. It'* a restriction, even gutted. It defeats the whole purpose.

I would, believe I definitely would, but I already bought a K&N for my box. I don't wanna spend more money on another one and have this one be wasted. The thing cost me like $60 if I remember right.

I don't actually have pictures of my box yet, but one of these days I will. If your airbox is the same as mine (I didn't look at your sig, just hit reply when I saw my name ) you can really open her up

What I did was remove the resonators from the inside, and then cut off the smaller of the 2 squares from the front of the box. Right where the front resonator connects. I now have about a 4x4 inch opening on the front of my airbox. Made a pretty decent "seat of the pants" power change, and a nice sound change. AND, I can still run a stock size filter. I have an Air Hog, but they are supposedly just about as good as the K&N

If your going to fenderwell the intake you wont need the airbox at all. The hardest part will be finding a coupler for the throttlebody to intake tubing. 3 feet of our tubing, a 9 inch K&N cone filter tucked into the fender, and the coupler of your choice is all you need. Alternatively, for a professional looking and very easy install you may want to check out new fenderwell kit on our site.
