how do i know if i have kr??
 

What exactly is kr and how do I know if I have it. The Mods to my car are in my sig.


I put in my 180* stat and cant tell that much of a difference in the operating temps.

And one other thing I did the ricer intake on my car. And now it throwing up a SES light.

My father in law has a code reader and it says its the air intake sensor high input.

If it's getting too much air, where can I move the IAT to, to keep the code from going off.

you dont have KR... thats something a supercharged car needs to deal with... DONT PANIC your SE is supposed to be slow (just like mine is)

Um, NA cars get KR too. All engines get knock and therefore have a KR system in the PCM. The force inducted ones have to worry about it more because they run a much higher compression.

I wouldn't worry too much about KR on a mostly stock car though.

right...... NA can have KR but, NA dont have KR for the same reasons

S/C'd cars have a lower compression ratio than N/A'd cars do. :wink:

Put your IAT sensor in towards the top of the pipe right before the bend. I've never heard of an IAT reading high....But check the connections or pull the cable off for a few min and reset the PCM and see if it comes back. Could just be a fluke. I used to have that issue on my car.

Yeah if people are trying to say that n/a cars don't get knock....... come to my house and i'll show ya.

LOL Living proof right there. If N/A'd cars didn't knock, then why would they have Knock Sensors? Just something to look cool? LOL

Hey thanks for the info. I'm in the process of building my heat shield. I'm thinking of using two pieces of stainless steel. It's going to be more of a box really though.
The way I'm thinking of doing it is running a piece of stainless over the top of the air filter and a piece of stainless behind the air filter and using reflectix on the inside of the two pieces to insulate it from the hot engine air. The pieces would be joined together and bolted to the car, with sheet metal screws. So the air filter will be pretty much enclosed.

Any gearheads that want to read this and give me their input it would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, has anyone used the autolite platnum plugs?? Mine are the AP605's
Haven't installed them yet, I'm waiting to get my new wires.
