Can this engine swap be made?
A few days ago I found a 1990 SSE for $200. but it hasn't been started in about 2 years, but the body is perfect.
Now, can I fit a L67 in there or am I crazy? There has to be someone here thats done this allready. & if its doable what do I need other than engine, transm., & PCM.?
Ive been looking for a 1990 bonneville for a long time since it was my first car, & this is a perfect project.

Ok, Ive read a bit & is all good news. From what I see the hardest part is the electrical. But the engine mounts are the same, right? & the car Im looking at is the same white/grey SSE.

It was a fun project. Even more fun to drive.
I bought a complete donor car cause I wasn't too sure of what I would need for the swap. Plus, I sold many parts to help fund the project. Here'* a list of items that I used from the donor car:
Complete engine (except for oil pressure sender) and trans assembly including drive axles
Complete drivetrain harness and PCM with enclosure
Inside half of drivetrain wire harness with about 8" of all wires
Subframe assembly including motor mounts, control arms, hubs, steering rack, sway bar
Torque axis mount
Rotors and calipers
Fuel lines
VATS module
Fuel pump module
OBDII connector
AC compressor relay
Cruise control module
Vacuum tank
Complete AC system including flex and hard lines, drier and evap core
Mmmmm... That'* all I can think of off the top of my head
You will also need both Factory service manuals for the 90 and whatever year donor car/drivetrain you use. I spent many hours maping out the electrical connections. Other than plugging in the engine harness upside down, everything was right the first time.
You'll also be happy to know that the 90 already has provisions for the torque axis mount. I have an 89 parts car and it does not. There is a thread on this forum that discusses the years that you can simply bolt one in and it appears that it'* 90+.
