Default Tossing some "bad" ideas around.....

Ok....

For the last two weeks I've been under the impression that my SC was dying.
I have conveinced the fiancee that it needs replacing and have told her to expect around a $3000-$4000 repair (if we go with a new one) .... she didn't like the idea of a refurb.

Now I know that my SC is fine (for now) and she'* boosting like a champ.

Here'* my idea.... we were going to budget that money for an SC repair this summer, now I'm thinking put the majority of it back in the bank, and start saving for an M112 and all the nessicary upgrades that would be needed.

I priced it out and it comes to around $7000 by the time everything is said and done.
So new M112 in my 97.... and now what to do.. what to do w/ my M90?

How hard would it be to toss in my 91?!?
I know the general rule of thumb here is "it can't be done easily"... and that'* normally because of the big cost of the SC.... right? Well if I've got one laying around?

I'm having the tranny replace or rebuilt this summer, I'm going to see what they can do to "beef it up" a bit just incase I decide to SC the 91, or Turbo it in the future.

Any thoughts???

What about a rebuild charger or a new engine around 1,500$ then probably look around another 500-1500 for instalation? Just an idea. If it aint broke, dont fix it

As long as you plan on running low boost, and getting new harnesses for the 91, it would work fine with the stock 3.8" pulley. Just remember though, since your running a high comp ratio, compared to what the L67 runs and have N/A valve springs, rods, and pistons, too high of boost will cause KR, or seriously harm the engine.

You could swap the sc over to the older one, will be tricky and your going to need a few things like the pcm , idlers, etc.
The m112 is not a bad option but for the money I would look else where.
Cam, heads, headers, tranny, TB, injectors, wiring, intercooler etc.

I agree this stiff first and will gain you more power than just slapping on a 112, that comes after these are done first and just arent enough. But don't let me stop you. That 7 grand covers lot more than just a 112, what you thinking?

You'd have a much easier time doing a Series I L67/PCM. And then i'd recommend a 92/93, 93 because of the roller rockers.

Honestly a 112 should only be done once the blower is holding you back. I've seen it, it'* huge, and it groans instead of whines. You better figure in some tranny fixing money as well.

If i had 7 grand to spend on an L67, it'd go into everything, and then the car'd be faster then just an MP112 car.

I was planning to start with modified induction and exhaust, a ZZP Custom Intercooler and ZZP Custom LS1 Throttle Body and 85 mm. MAF Sensor Kit.

Then install the M112.

And after the M112 move onto aftermarket cam, heads, fuel injectors and custom PCM & some transmission work.

It'* just an idea I was tossing around..... probably more of a project to be completed in 2006 rather then 2005.

What about using your m90 and sending it to zzp to have it converted to the m112 hybrid? ....its a cheaper route....

I know where your comming from, these things take time. I'm just comming to the end of phase 1 and am thinking of phase 2 of my mod desires

You should do the cam and heads before the blower. The m90 is going to give more than enough boost before that $7k disolves
