Exhaust Advice Needed???
I am currently modding the crap out of my bonny. My next goal is to get the exhaust replaced due to it being rusty anyway. I am very limited on money so I need to come up with an exhaust system that doesn't cost and arm and a leg. I have the series 1 N/A so I dont need extremely low back pressuse, but I would like to have good bit more flow than stock. I am planning to go with a stock pipe . I was thinking of going with a dynomax thrush muffler, but I had one in my caravan and it didn't seem to be any different than the stock one. Does anyone know if the summit racing turbo mufflers are any better? I also would like this system to give my bonny a nice sound as well. There are so many mufflers out there that claim to do this and that, I just want the best muffler I can buy for a low price pretty much. Any advice?

If you open up that exhaust too much it will surly take away what power you have.
I would suggest a few tricks to help. If you can get a shop to bend pipe cheaply and give you a stock looking unit then go that way with a slightly higher flow on the muffler.

Really the best way to improve flow is to have the exhaust manifolds ceramic coated and have the rear manifold slightly ported, the rest polished and the scavenging effect can be actually used due to the higher flowing muffler.
The best advice I can give with a non-sc or turbo is Balance. Your system will not gain from just opening it up. The engine you have is designed to produce HP at a certain flow so creating a unbalanced unit will take it away.
So high flow intake that is a proper CAI and polishing the upper, lower intake, then with the exhaust manifold coated. This will add "some" hp. The cheapest next option would be NOS with a mild application 40hp.

You can't really say what sounds better cause its personal prefernace. I had a magnaflow muffler and i really didn't like the sounds so i switched to a Flowmaster and i finally got the sound i want. If you want a barky sounds go with magnaflow, if you want a smooth deep sounds go with flowmaster. To me it seemed like the magnaflow just sounded like the car was spitting under acceleration and with the flowmaster it'* just constantly smooth. I also have no catalytic converter along with about 3.5 feet of resonator with out the stock resonator. If you put just the flowmaster muffler in the car you will notice a resonance inside the car and although it does sound cool at first, you will get tierd of it. Same with the magnaflow, you will notice a drowning sound in the car but your fasination with it will go away when you have to drive more that 2 hrs in the car. One thing that concerned me with the magnaflow was that its straight through and i think the car had very little backpresure with it. Reving the car in N with the magnaflow gave me a sound as if the car was back fireing and to me i really couldn't handle it anymore. I will try to get a sound bite on here soon of what my car sounds like.
