help for my B-Day!!!

hey guys. i just turned 21 on August 2nd and i got a lot of money and wanna put it into the bonny. would like some tips or other upgrade items that will make more efficiency with wut i wanna do. tomorrow i will be buying all of this and need some advice....

part i wanna get - wut i would like to kno

roller rockers and rods from Intense - wut ratio? 1.9?

valve springs - LS6 or Comp Cam?

ZZperformance short stack intercooler - fuel rail upgrade or keep stock with modifying?

3.0" pulley - can i go that small? if not wuts ur suggestion?

SLP or Pace Setter headers - do PS's fit a H-body? which are the best for my modding list?

basically i wanna be a high 12 or low 13 daily driver eventually. im in the process and i always strive for the best of the best being a perfectionist. and i kno that when u upgrade "this" and "that" u will always need another "this" and "that" to make it work or work better or so that something else doesnt break. im so tired of searching and not finding the answers im lookin for so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dang, intercooler.... how much money did you get? THats the way I wanna go if I had the money. No sense in uppin supercharger spin unless you can cool it down. I would say do the intercooler if you got the money, all your other mods are gonna make that much more of a diff cause cause you dropped the temps going into the engine. Also you might as well spring for roller rockers and pushrods since you are probably gonna have all that off anyways. Port and polish heads? THen you'll be making some real flowage. Thats what I would do. But I havent been into FWD/6 bangers as long as these other guys.

P.S.---- PCM?

Happy 21st man! I have mine coming up in just under 6 weeks :)

If you want a 12-13 second car I would say that goal will be easier to achieve with a cam instead of rockers. But if you do rockers 1.9 ratio is what you would probably want along with some oil restricted pushrods. Rockers may give you 30hp in the upper rpms while a cam might give you 50hp across a much broader rpm band.

When it comes to the valve springs I would say go with the comp cam 105’s they cost a little more but supposedly they are easier on the timing chain. And they probably would take more abuse since they are a heavier spring.

An intercooler is not much of a power adder in itself. It helps you rid your car of any KR it has then you can increase boost and/or timing.

As for pulleys it is always best to scan so you know what size you can run with your setup.

I wouldn’t recommend pacesetter headers to anyone. & with that being said I think 1 or 2 have installed them on a H-body but I’m not sure what needed to be modified in order to make them fit.

If I may suggest a route to take your mods I would say get some headers (SLPs or TOGs.) And then decide if you want rockers or a cam.

Intercooler? Dead last. Not even a practical mod at this point.

Definetly want a cam, heads, header combo. Obviously an MPS setup, a quality exhaust setup, appropriate supporting mods like plugs, wires, etc...

Tires, trans work, etc..

thanx a lot McGrath! ummm ya i got like $500 for my bday and another $1000 to play with. i kno i am for sure doin roller rockers, rods, and springs.....headers and a smaller pulley for my MPS too. i dont even kno wut the roller rocker ratio means. the higher the better? or the lower the better?....and i think i might just spend the money for the TOG headers. but i will keep u guys updated as to the route i go and the results. Thanx so far

The ratio is how much it (the rocker arm) multiplies the lift from the cam so say you have .221" lift on the intake of your cam and you have 1.8 ratio rockers your actual lift will be ~.398" (.221" * 1.8 = .3978")

Glad I can help ya out,

Ed
