Headers Saga Continues.....

So, we got the leak fixed with the crossover pipe. It was really minor and had to be found with the mechanics stethoscope. My exhaust guy and I took the Bonnie out for a hard run and lo and behold...the same ticking/whistling noise was happening. We got back, lifted on the hoist and I revved the engine while power braking while my exhaust guy took a listen. He found the noise! It'* in the flex pipe, about 3/4 of the way down from the header collector. The flex pipe is not damaged from the outside, but he believes there might be a deform on the inside of the flex or even some weld slag that causing the laminar exhaust flow to make some goofy noises as it leaves the header and heads past the flex pipe to the CAT.

So....we have a new SS flex pipe coming. What he'* going to do is to pull the exhaust aside and take a look up inside the flex pipe and see if there is any deformity he can correct. If not...the old rear header comes off, the flex pipe get'* cut off and a new one installed. $250 worth the additional work.

SLP has not been very helpful. They want me to pull the header off and send it to them so they can check it out and then they will either repair this one or send a new one...turn around from off to back is three weeks!

I'm not going to play with SLP. They are dead to me.....

It'* a shame you can't just rip them out and go with these. This is what I have in my car.

I need a priest and not a mechanic for these.

The crossover pipe was sent to me short from SLP. I found a used pair locally and measured the pipe versus mine...about 1" too short on mine. Can't get SLP to give me a new one Why? Cause we 'modified' this one to fit on the car so I could drive it! Catch-22....

The leak noise we had been chasing all along was from the flex pipe and has been all along. So, we both got stumped on that one.

I have so much time, energy and money invested into these right now I can't turn back...otherwise I would be ripping them out and shoving them up SLP'* collector.
