Header Wrap

anyone used this stuff before?

mike_peperni 06-08-2005 09:03 PM

i got that on my civic, it cover my ceramic headers, but never see it on a bonneville.

it help me dicipate the extra heat. ok, youll say the 1.6 make soooo much heat!! lol

it probably work on bonneville. this with the cold air intake help me to keep the few
pound of torque my civic have.(i notice a more constant performance in hot summer)

are you planning to do this?

Kennginn 06-08-2005 09:04 PM

planning on doing it didnt know how this stuff worked how does it work and how long does it usually take?

i got mine installed at the speedshop , its really easy, if we are talkin the same thing,

you have to remove your manifold or headers to wrap it, you will probably find that in speedshop, i know many civic owner with that and they all love that, its not esthetic but efficient.

just wrap it like you tape a hockey... lol

but i dont know how they fix it when they finish the wraping..

dunno how well it will help on the bonneville but its cheap to try.

hope this help

i think i will do a ceramic coating onto my headers instead of the wrap

mike_peperni 06-08-2005 09:30 PM

my headers are ceramic, its still very hot, but it can help, u can wrap it in same time or later if u find it too hot with just coating.

goodluck, keep me updated :)

ceramic coating! I used the wrap on a sled and it worked well but eventually fell apart. For the $$ and time to take off the manifolds just coat 'em.

I actually use it wrap my flex pipe where the headers connect to my cat. I replace it once a year because it gets ratty but its under the not under the hood.

Does header wrap help them flow better becasue they stay hotter?

It helps scavaging and also reduces engine bay heat by keeping the heat in the pipe. The faster flow rate of hot exhaust creates a vacuum that helps pull exhaust gas out of the cylinders.
