Have you seen this?

I know the "perfomance chip" thing doesn't work, but have you seen this....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33597

I'd guess it a waste of money.....

banned3800 03-02-2005 12:59 PM

So if thats the case we can just unplug the IAT and go racing...? Looks like a scam to me..lol

Does not take off speed limiter for fear of breaking the law. Yet they condone sneaking around you're warrenty company. Yet another scam. If it don't remove the limiter it ain't a chip.

I like how it says in big letters "has been shown and tested to increase: Gas Mileage (when your foot is not on the floor!)"

And then it says "Does it increase or decrease my MPG ? No, your gas mileage will be the same. Any change is virtually unnoticed."

Doh!

I believe it is just a varriable resistor that you can install in to the intake so it thinks it is colder but the neet thing is you can adjust the usless thing

fantastic88 03-02-2005 05:30 PM

Honestly, I think it will harm you're performance. Just stick with the experts. ZZP, Intence, 3800 Performance. Don't mess with people that don't know sh^t about the 3800.

willwren 03-02-2005 06:05 PM

It'll help by about 5hp for about 5 minutes. Then the O2 sensor figures out what's going on. Worthless POS. MYTH.

Just like always. Same thing every time. Please, stick with the experts.

Yes, everyone please realize that the ECM's and PCM's are somewhat adaptive and will relearn...

Exactly, if you want the real dael, the speed limiter will be removed as well.

Alright, I paid 165 dollars for my Jet Stage II Chip, yet I am nearly positive there is still a speed limiter at 125. It just stops right there. Can anyone explain. Is there a wrong way to install it?

you're speed limiter should be done for. Ask the experts.

willwren 03-02-2005 09:34 PM

My Jet Stage 2 took me to 137 the first day (it's posted here somewhere). It's been significantly faster since.

Time to call Jet, bud. I know DrJay has the same chip, but doesn't care for top speed, and hasn't tested it yet.

dblack1 03-02-2005 10:19 PM

u aught to post this in the myths thread.

GonneVille 03-03-2005 07:38 PM

I sent this to the seller:
How is this item supposed to work? If it changes the reading that the PCM gets
from the IAT sensor, then it is useless. The PCM in the Bonneville and other vehicles
with the 3800 will quickly realize that the IAT is reading false and use the O2
sensor reading instead. The only way to alter performance through the electronics
of a 3800 is to either use a chip IN the PCM or flash the PCM depending on the year
of the car.

This is what they had to say:
The thing is your not gonna tell the pcm it's -40 degrees outside like a regular
resitor, your gonna tell it's around 40 degress..
That why its adjustable and goes inline with iat sensor.. WE installed in on my
boxster and it fooled the pcm easily.. Of course i dont have a pontiac so i couldnt
tell you..

Translated:
It's a scam. The thing is an adjustable resistor that goes on the circuit with the IAT. As Will already stated, our PCMs are too smart too be fooled this way.
As for the guy's Boxter, I doubt that he's ever even driven one, much less done any kind of work on any car, ever.

BonneMeMN 03-03-2005 08:32 PM

$50? Shit i got parts to make one of those right here.....

It'll work just fine as a happy knob to adjust timing, IF you have a chip made for it. But then you might as well get the whole happy knob setup....

On that jet chip, give them a call. :? I know one can do over 150 with it.

My new car 03-04-2005 09:03 AM

Alright, I will have to do that when I get back from a trip this weekend. I sent in the warranty papers, lets hope they will honor it. I am just mad because that thing was SUCH a pain to get into. Thanks guys.

Merlin 91/97 03-04-2005 05:22 PM
