Trans Died Today, What should the rebuild have in it?
My trans is on its last legs. I lost 4th gear today since my RPMs are 2700 at 75mph, it appears I have TCC lockup in 3rd only. Shifting from Drive to 3rd makes no difference on the tach. I'm highly doubting a trans flush will fix this problem. On the 93 at 75mph I maintain 2200RPM after OD and after TCC is engaged.
I'm thinking:
New Torque Converter
Master Rebuild Kit
Rear Main Seal Replacement
All clutches I can get replaced will be replaced.
This will cost me right around 2000 to have done locally, I guess I could always purchase a trans from INTENSE or ZZP but if something goes wrong its a long drive out there.
The car will have around 250-260WHP when I'm done I'm thinking give or take, so I'm not sure if I should get other beefed up parts.
I'm thinking NO on an LSD and NO on a different gear ratio.
I want to make sure I replace all the cheap stuff so if there is anything I'm overlooking I'd appreciate if someone can point it out. The trans shops around here are not that trustworthy i dont think when it comes to "extra parts that are easy to put in".
I have a while until it really "needs" a trans since I still maintain 27mpg on the highway.

Umm, is this the same transmission that you claimed was shifting perfectly in this thread?

Yep it lost OD competley today, it still shifts PERFECT into every other gear and very smooth at low thottle and WOT.
My guess to why the fluid looks so bad:
It has had a missing 4th gear for a LONG time, the added heat in the transmission has turned the fluid the dark brown color.
My guess was that 2700RPM was normal for 75mph but I came to the conclusion today that its not.

I knew I would have to do a trans on it from the getgo but I'm having second thoughts since its going to be hard to sell it even with a perfect trans and not taking a big financial loss. Of course if I keep the car I'm sure it will be extremely reilable for another 50-100k but thats what I gotta decide.

Your best bet, park the car. Save up some cash. Buy a used trany, install it, sell the car.
Buy a 00-03 with much much lower mileage and a better history, put money into something like that...You will ge much better return in the way of, it will last you much longer...
I want a 00+ too, I have the cash in my bank right now to buy one, but, Im more than happy with my 97, shes a good car, and I have a few bucks into it right now.
That 93 of yours is a nice car man...Id drive it, and id still be driving mine forsure.
