hi flow cats
I know this subject has been beat to death and I 've helped.
I just got a couple questions before I order.
1). When I got my intense pcm I had them put in the 02 delete trouble code.
my question is this will I still have to have a hi-flow cat with a 02 bung?
The part numbers aren't as big an issue. but just to make sure which one do I need.
They have 3 models to choose from: 1 witout an 02 bung 54305 and 2 with 02 bungs
94305 and 94315. I just want to make sure I get the right part.
It sorta bites to get to the shop to have something put on and the mechanic say "This won't work".
Thanks much,
Tim

I'm not sure what the "delete trouble code" is, but in general, you want your second O2 sensor. Those that delete the second O2 sensor usually put in a module to send false signals to the PCM.
Hopefully others will see this thread and pipe up, since I just noticed it, myself.

Saw it yesterday..however I couldn't locate a magnaflow direct fit cat.
Rear bung is your choice..with the delete on there..you don't need a rear O2

Check out http://hoganperformance.com/HBodyGM.htm they have direct fit high flow cats for our cars. Also Curt hogan said to me in a e-mail that all members of Bonneville club get free shipping.

the hi-flow cat i purchased (my post is on page 2 of that thread) has worked out fine for me, they also sell a version of that cat with a built in 02 bung.
As for its flow properties i dont really know, the guy that installed it didnt think it was a very high flow unit because the holes in the waffle material were too small? i dont really know...he asked if they sold it as a high flow unit and when i said yes he just kinda scoffed at it....so i dont really know.

We learned quite a bit about it from my exhaust guy, Jerry at WCBF04.
Keep in mind I'm speaking specifically about Magnaflow in this case, but as it was explained to us at Tech Day, hi-flow cats have the same size holes in the grid, but the grid itself contains 10% more holes than OEM cats for that application.

In my post, after looking back. I'm not clear as to why I say direct fit.
The 96+ cars have a catalytic converter that has a flange on the front end of it. There is no room to cut it off and reuse the flange.... therefore most shops cut both sides of the flange and that causes future work problems.
