Default Flowmaster 40 and Resonators

Thiis month (April) I am going to pull the trigger and order all my parts for my exhaust. Defiinetly going to get a hi flow cat. As far as mufflers go, I definetly want a low rumble to it but mainly looking for performance gains. I am thinking about using a Flowmaster 40 series. Also, I was reading the sticky about exhaust mods, and came across the resonator issue. I definely want it to be heard from outside, but I am not to woried about hearing it from within. So should I get one of those glass pack resonators that I was reading about to reduce noiise at high speeds?

the 40 is a VERY loud muffler. The 80 series will give you the good tones, but keep the volume lower, but still loud.

A resonator or two with the 40 series will give a very nice tone, but I have no clue about volume.

Oh, wow. I just assumed the lower series were quieter. So lets say I get a 80 series now, with a resonator. Would that decrease the volume or increase?

The 80 series with a res (you have one stock) will be louder then stock mufflers. It'll sound much lower too. Check out http://bonneville.fearthepearl.com/index.php?page=mods if you haven't already

Yea, got those clips saved on my desktop

So if the resonator is removed then it will not be as loud? I am looking for a deep tone, but I dont want it to sound like a truck either.

No no no no.. Resonators quiet and smooth out the sound. Good example. Although SC vs NA it'* still got the main points. Compare Crazydriver vs Zzzzekes. Both flowmaster 80, both series 1. Crazy doesn't have a res, zzzzzeke does. His is quieter, but it'* lower toned as well.

I know a guy with a 40 on a V6, I can hear him from two blocks away, and when he parks it shakes my windows.
