Default what is this (shift plus kit)?

so i was doing some searching on B&M'* website knowing that i have the 4t60e tranny that u can do absolutely nothing with performance wise and i came across a shift plust kit...if u read it says that it improves tranny performance with just reprogramming the hydrolics in the tranny without the need to drop the tranny pan...does anyone know anything about this...would it be a good investment for me or no?

yea i read that...not sure how it would work, thats y im tryin to see if anyone has used one or knows someone who has, cause im really interested in buying one...

i know the deal with trannys that from the factory they program the tranny to slip more in order to make nicer/easier shifts and a lot of people get the idea that forcing the tranny to shift harder does damage when in all reality its better for the tranny...correct me if im wrong but thats what i hear

You can do alot with the 4t60 performance wise. Willwren and a few others just had thiers built and I'm about to have mine built at Dynotech this summer..
And I would just get an adjustible trans modulator from advance or some other auto parts store. It does the same thing but it'* much cheaper.
Heres the box mine came in.

Correct. That thing is nothign more than a 'trans interceptor'. An adjustable modulator is the correct way to do this on a 4T60. Other than a full-blown shift kit of course. I did BOTH. My JET PCM also modifies my shifts electronically. The end result of these 3 things can be some pretty damn firm shifts if you want it. Or you can soften them up with an adjustment to the Modulator.

where did you get the shift kit from cause i cant seem to find one for the 4t60-e, and what kind of work is required to install the modulator? im just lookin at something not too difficult that could give my tranny a little more life

The shift kit bill is talking about is the Transgo JR shift kit with all the options. If I'm right then you can get it from here:
http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/me...roduct_Count=0
or have your trans shop order it. It NEEDS to be installed during a rebuild as the valvebody must be modified.
The modulator is very easy to replace, there is only one bolt holding it into the case(10mm?). You don't need to drain fluid either. Make sure you install as it shows in figure 1 in the pic I posted.

You got it, Mike. Thanks for the info you posted.

The transgo kit he linked is NOT a self-install. This is something a trans shop familiar with the inner workings of the valvebody needs to do. Installing all options (some features of the shift kit are optional) takes a great deal of time and effort. Machining, drilling, tapping, plugging, etc.

My valvebody was on the bench for most of 3 days.

My rebuild took over 2 weeks as well using that kit. Like Bill, I had everything but the kitchen sink put in and I think he left the sink in the trunk if I change my mind

now if i was to install the modulator, would it just be pointless then to get this shift puls kit or would it help even more? im guessing it would make that pointless
