goofy intake filter

has anyone seen the cone filters with a lip for a direct "ram air" in the center. the sides are still an open cone, but its got room for a clamp and some sort of ducting. i was think about doing this and running some ducting behind my driving lights

I use the one without the hose. The key is isolating the cone from the engine heat.
I used some Reflectex plastic insulation available at the local hardware store.
That way the only air it draws in is cool air thru the fender openings.

Correct me if I am wrong, but those filters with the cone inside the cone would do no use for our cars, b\c of the pipe size that we use from DP or ADTR. Most of those products look like something that either a person with a MASSIVE engine would buy or a really dumb ricer. I didnt see any hp gain claims from a K&N either.

I haven't looked at that website recently, but the last time I did, those were NOT K&N. They're copies. According to what I heard, that guy has a killer markup. The same filters can be found cheaper. Hector? Was that you telling me about that guy?

It just sounds to me like the gain on most of those filters would be slim if at all, though he does have some good ideas. I would have used K&N filters and just sold kits for the plastic molding myself...some assembly required :D

Yeah, that's the guy. I looked at his markup and I laughed for a good 10 min then told you about it and lauged some more. I get the same filters and I would never have the guts to charge that much for them. I can add them to the ADTR Bonny store if you guys want to make it easier?

Was considering buying one of those myself, right now all I have is a 7" K+N cone under the hood with no cold air piping, smooth intake pipe though ( I used 3" Vacuum hose that is completely smooth inside, yet strong and thick with wire reinforcement )

Thoughts?
