Default Free performance chips!

Bet I got some attention with that but its not extremely far from the truth. I've gone along and purchased a Eprom programmer + in the final stages of getting needed software. I'm going to build my own eprom eraser from materials I found on a DIY page. So here'* what I'm hoping to do. Go junkyarding, or wherever, and pick up some 93/94 eproms for "testing" so we can figure out what setup is best. I say 92/93 because thats the software I'm getting, not sure why it wouldn't work on others but the guy was specific in saying that. I'll ask anyway. But point being I'm hoping, with the help of fellow BC members, to provide cheap alternatives for the seemingly overpriced Jet chips or even keep your jet chips for the daily driver and make a dedicated "race chip" for the weekends. I've read of places that describe how to build a switch to switch between the two on the fly! How about a custom burn for nitrous or that ultra small pulley you use on the weekend? Anyway I'm completely new at this so if you have an informative page, easy access to eproms, or are willing to be a test subject (where ya at willwren?) just lemme know. I'm going out of town (Waldorf, MD and Lafayette, IN - Lemme know if you live near there) from the 8th to the 20th but I'll try and keep up with this post. Oh and for those of you curious about the "free" part, I'm not doing this for profit. If we get to the stages where I can rap out eproms whenever I want anything you wanna pay over the costs will be a donation... but I wouldn't mind getting some of what I paid back .

Since it'* an OBD1, would it work on a Series II on a 1995? Or do you just want to stick to the Series I cars?

I'm willing to do whatever the software will allow me to do. He mentioned something about GM adding a few things and rearranging the chips on a certain type or maybe he meant year. The only thing I can think GM would play with it for is in '94 when they went to a larger TB. I just wrote back asking for clarification.

SOL, your computer is very different. If it'* an eprom one though ( i believe it is) that makes it work, but it'* not the same as a 93.

Dr. Jay, i'll be on the lookout for them for sure. I'm willing to test for a 93 Na.

These are YEAR/MODEL specific. All years are slightly different guys.

For a 92 SSE SC could you:
Remove governor
Remove overboost protection
Raise redline (a little)
Raise and firm up shift points
Adjust fan turn-ons
Tweak the spark timing and fuel delivery

If so, I'll be a tester. What do you need from me?

Would a chip make for quiker gearing? Like say make a 2.84 axle perform more like a 2.97 or 3.06?

I can get my hands on a few eproms..But I don't think '99 bonnevilles use chips any more..so I'm out of luck. =\
