Arrow Getting a Canned tune/Custom tuning

Hey folks!, I'm ordering a 3.6" pulley and the PCM from intense-racing http://intense-racing.com/Merchant2/...00_Electronics...

It says that a security relearn procedure is required for my SSEi and that all cars could benefit from a CASE learn. Is it possible to custom tune this intense pcm? Also, if any one could do custom tuning it would be much obliged.

there is nothing special about the pcm its just the program in it. you are better off just having someone custom tune your pcm. like you can send it off to dan or bill. there are places here in rochester that do dyno tuning though i dont know how good they know the 3800, couple people i was reading about one had a 5300 pickup and said they do tuner stuff mostly

So the Intense PCM can be re-tuned at a shop or a guy with tuning software just like the stock PCM? Then re-tuned again if I decide to do more modding?

My plan is to order a 3.6 pulley and canned PCM, send THAT PCM out to get custom tuned, and install it all together when my Aeroforce comes lol. Anywhere you would recommend in Rochester for tuning?

Some shops "tuner lock" to prevent other people with tuners to copy the file and it around for free. Not sure if Intense does this. Boosty might know.

Did some reading (go figure) and found this on their site:

"Do you 'lock' your PCM'*?

No. Our PCM’* are not locked in any way. The checksum flags aren't disabled. And the Operating Systems are not changed to '0' or ' '. Anyone with editing capability can read and edit our PCM’*."

I don't know what that means exactly, but it sounds like anyone with software should be able to tune this. So, I WOULD be able to send it somewhere for a CASE learn and a Custom tuning! lol.

Anyone here skilled with tuning software?

Well, you can send your PCM wherever for a tune, but, the CASE learn needs to be done in vehicle with the tuner or GM Tech2. Most dealerships should be able to do a case learn for you.

If you haven't noticed, I'm only 2.5 hours from you and I do have HPTuners myself. A few others here have it also, but are more advanced than I.

what im saying is its not necessary to get the pcm with a tune like that, send out your pcm have it tuned and you wont need the case learn either. thats to make a pcm that hasent been in your car familiar with your settings, security and sensor values.

and no i get so much computers at work im sick of it so i specifically made my car not have any. i could find out who they were talking about on the other site.

found the post,
"I just came across this topic, I know its an old one but I too originally was going to get the truck tuned at new era but their better than me and know it all attitude turned me off. I finally found a tuner in honeoye falls that has a dyno. his name is Rick Gifford but is better known as the bald turbo freak. He mainly deals with tuners but was a real nice guy and had no problem tuning my truck. When I told him I was wondering what kind of power I was making he said $75 for 4 pulls. that was about a year ago but could be still the same. he can be hard to get ahold of but well worth your time. He does have a Facebook. "

i dont think they do the actual tuning you would have to have hptuners or whatever it take to tune your car i would imagine.

Default Thanks JW

So keeping and tuning my PCM is the best bet... I was tempted to get hp tuners myself, but heard the learning curve was steep. A bit of a steep price too lol.

It will pay for itself in the long run. Especially if you continue to do mods that require retuning. Don't forget, HPtuners is also an advanced diagnostic scanner too.
