Engine rebuild?
My engine has been giving me nothing but problems ever since i bought the thing, and im looking into getting it rebuilt, should i go to a GM dealer or just a local automotive place that we have a bunch of around here? And whats a reasonable price range for a 92 ssei, complete rebuild pretty much.

Try a local auto shop that has mechanics that are ASE certified. I am not sure about the price, I am thinking around a 1000 maybe. I had an engine replaced for a 4x4 before, but I just bought a used engine from a junk yard then the shop cleaned it up and everything. GM dealer or any dealer will usually cost you an arm and a leg.

Thanks, can u give me a price range to look for? like a min/max situation? and u think a rebuild would free up some extra HP?

You could add some performance parts. If you're taking apart, and wanna get adventerous, get a custom ground cam, and lightened pushrods while you're in there. Slap on a smaller */C pulley, and port some holes for better flow. I'll be doing this eventually, but keeping my block/crank/pistons.

A member here has put almost 10k into his 1993 like yours, and the shops messed it up both times, so he'* waiting on the lawyers to get it fixed now, i'm planning on doing my own work, and trying to keep it under 1000. I was able to pick up an engine for 75 bux, but it spun a bearing, so the bottom end is toast.

rebuild
i know my dad had his 97 bonneville se rebuilt by a local shop, he had been going to this shop for yrs and my grandfather went thru them for yrs also. they rebuilt the engine and my dad luckily got a warranty because 2300 miles later the oil pump went out(it was new also) and it cost the shop 1200.00 to replace it and the internals that were ruined. so i would definitly get a warranty and read it throughly before agreeing to anything.
