Gen 5 with 3.3" Pulley results

Impressive. :!:

The road dried up a couple of hours ago so off we went for another one hour drive to test the numbers after dropping down from the 3.4 to the 3.3 pulley.

All I can say again is Holy Mother of God

My Monkey has turned into a Raped Ape.

Peak Boost is now 13.0 psi

Traction was better today but as soon as the revs climb above 4500 rpm, both tires break free and it buzzes up to 6000 rpm.

Oh that new Gen 5 SC whine is much more pronouned. Even Laura noticed it. :D

We can hear it now in unison with the exhaust sound. My exhaust will drown out the sound of a Gen 3 SC.

I took video but with no host to properly download it, I'll do my best to get it posted.

  .......and I got my first Kill of the year and got it on Video :!: :bwoohoo:

I am getting used to hitting the water injection once in a while to cool the intake down. It really works to bring the temp down. 8)

The normal low load, no boost running temp of the intake air after the SC outlet varies from 110 to 120 F.
This is with an outside temp of 40 F. IAt indicated 37 F
I think it might be linear.....so in the summer when temps are around 80 F, I project the LIM air to run about 160 F, matching the coolant temp.

As soon as the boost comes on at say 2 psi, the temp rises to about 150 F.
During one full throttle 6000 rpm 1-2 shift run........I could only drive in town this time with posted limits of 30 mph...... ..........the temp rose to a high of 180 F.
So in the summer it might get up to 220 - 240 F.

Using the spray would instantly cool the 120 F LIM air to 80 F then it would rise to 120 F but as soon as I got off the throttle, it would drop back to 80 F and then take a few minutes to climb back up to 110 F after the spray was turned off.

Can you tell I love this new setup.

that sounds sweet!!!

BillBoost37 01-29-2007 12:40 PM

What was previous peak boost? (Odd..I was seeing 13-14psi on the 3.2 Gen 3)

willwren 01-29-2007 02:19 PM

Bill, was that with headers or PEM's? ;)

BillBoost37 01-29-2007 03:44 PM

Both.. 8)

2000SilverBullet 01-29-2007 09:45 PM

I have never seen more than 11 psi with my Gen 3 even running the 3.1".

It had to be because of the rotor coating loss. :?

If you gain 1 psi for every tenth based on no changes to intake or exhaust, so from stock 3.8 to 3.2 is worth about 6 psi + 7 stock = 13 psi

If you had 13 - 14 with CAI cone and headers then they didn't do you much good. :?

Glad to hear your liking the new setup. Keep us updated!!!

My next mod will probably be a Gen V. It depends on what kind of a deal I can get on one. Everyone that has one seems to love them and they are much louder...thats the part I like...blower whine ftw.

Now drop that pulley down and go even faster!

Shawn - what do you think about Todd's implication that too much boost will simply cause the PCM to pull overall timing.?
How much is too much, as long as you can control KR.

Do you believe Boosty is really producing 13-14 psi with a Gen 3 and 3.2 with headers and CAI?
