G1 vrs G2 front struts

Whats the difference between 87-91 and 92-99 front struts. I know theres a difference but has anyone had the two sitting side by side.

I ask this because I see Monroe has Reflex offered for the gen 2 fronts but not for the gen 1

Also the sensi tracs are different part #

Same part # for rears all years however depending on weather its air leveling or not.

Another good point for Gen 1 guys is that they have two different #'s for sensi tracs fronts for Gen 1. One for sport suspension and one for luxury suspension. Thats the first I've seen listing for sport suspension in the aftermarket.

Still would like to try Reflex on all four corners of Gen 1

Thanks Will for the tip I just learned from another post that linked to your info on the self leveling Reflex's for the rears. I was getting ready to eliminate the air ride in 2 of my cars. Not now. Thanks again !!

I believe the two are different in how they mount to the front knuckle. PM jr's3800 a link to this topic. He's temporarily on dialup as he moves into his new house.

He has both a 91 and a 95, and has done strut work on both cars.
Glad I could help with the rears ;)

Scratching head here ? I'll go to Monroe and hope maybe they have both styles sitting on the shelf and then compare. Or my friends at Napa might have both. They wont mind at all. Then I'll order what I want. As far as I know all always had the tie rod attached to the knuckle ?

Actually I can do that JR, just not today. I'll get my books out, they go to 92 H body so it should show all pieces from 92 front end. I'll see what it looks like and how the numbers change. I though maybe the spring seat was different, seems like the springs look different.

I know LeSabre guys have even put GTP front supension components under their cars. Also, using newer steering knukle from PA or Regency will get you the larger rotors but then you need 16's. I just forget all the details. I can measure some from the LSS and compare to my older LeSabre too. Im just not about to take the struts out of the LSS - - - -YET !! 8)

I have complete set of F41 springs and bars I am putting in my 90 Regency, I want the best possible struts too. I'll put KYBs but if I can get Reflex in the front I want to try 'em.

** 90 Regency, my chrome sleeper winter car. May eventually put some Bonneville leather w/console floor shift too. **
