Depends on the style your looking for. I have seen some nice looking 2wd trucks look good lifted slightly with larger (but not huge) tires front and back.

Finding out the largest tires that will fit your truck might be a good way to go, the issues is making sure you can turn the wheels fully. Another thing you might want to look at is a body-lift instead of a suspension lift. Very easy to install a body lift and generally you avoid issues like drive-shaft length and brake line extensions that often need to be modified with a suspension lift.
One easy course of action would be to find someone selling ZR2 tires/rims and see if you can test them before you buy them. Would give you a little more height and you would be keeping it all GM....

Yeah i think going with bigger tires would help a lot. i dont want it like 4 feet off the ground or anything, just wanting to make it look a little meaner.

i think some better wheels and tires would be enough, my uncle had a truck like yours but it came with these rims and 255 wide rubber, it looked good. i think you could probably find a set in the junk yard. in fact i got him to put steelies on it and i kept those for my firebird. not a big fan of lifted 2wd'* you know they dont go off road so whats the point. some nice rims, a cowl hood and a 350 conversion would be what i would do with that truck

I would say put a 3" suspension lift on and see how you like it. If it looks good, then put a 3" body lift on and take a look. Bigger tires will help keep it looking good.
