Default LN3 project possibility

I know it has been asked many times about getting more out of an LN3 and the weak trannies in the 88-91'*, but just wondering if anyone has done any mods to them. I have heard of porting and polishing other models and just wondering what others have tried.

The reason I am asking is because of my 89. I will be getting another bonnie in the near future and I plan on doing some work to my 89 and limit it'* use. I would like to do some trials of different things with it. A project / toy if you would say.

Anybody have any plausible ideas of things to try? I am planning on stripping the motor down for a complete rebuild and eventually the tranny. So, if I do the work on the motor first and the tranny goes I won't be upset. I really just want to see what could be done with one of these.

Default Re: LN3 project possibility

The normal tricks applied to other engines apply just as well to the LN3. It'* a motor. Smoothing out the airflow into and out of the stock parts will work. Depending on the current condition, a basic overhaul, with matching of gasket flanges and clean injectors will make it better than original.

As mods: Do the 180 T-stat, a CAI with a good filter, get a scan tool, and check out how well it runs on the factory calibration. Get the scan tool first and use it on the car to see what it'* doing now...that will go a long way towards figuring out which systems are screwed up now and give you a baseline to compare back to.
